If you know Carl Charles, you will understand the passion he brings to the dance floor and the dance industry.  His style for both male and female dancers makes dancing fun and enjoyable while paying attention to technique and styling.  Carl's dance journey began in childhood and has continued through adulthood.  He has been dancing the Disco/Hustle since the 70’s and has been teaching, performing and competing part-time for over 20 years. Carl is dedicated to teaching Latin, Ballroom, Swing, and “Disco/Hustle” dances full time, as an independent instructor.  He teaches at some of the most prominent studios around the country in order to make himself accessible for special workshops, group and private lessons.  Carl’s mission and personal goal is to pass his knowledge of this great dance "Hustle", on to as many people as he physically can.  Carl's accomplishments in the area of partner dancing include being crowned the “King of the Hustle” at Lincoln Center in New York City.  He has been inducted to the Hustle Hall of Fame and has won countless dance competitions both locally and nationally. He was also featured in a dance special on PBS (Worldwide) called "Touch Dancing" and is one of the most sought after dancers on the dance floor anywhere. As Carl had stated, The Disco/Hustle is not what it used to be in the 70's. The dance has moved from the streets into the Dance Studios.  The dance Disco/Hustle keeps evolving and growing, and this change is good. Carl also said, when he looks out into the audience and sees those smiling faces, he knows that this where he is supposed to be – "Dance is more than an interest…it’s his life!”.  He is very happy in continuing be a part of something that gives back immeasurable joy and satisfaction.  Check out his website Check out his website:  http://www.CarlcharlesDance.com/  for additional information.

David Flynn

Dance teacher and competitor from the Washington DC Metro area. He has been dancing Hustle since the late 70's and teaching both Hustle and East Coast swing for the last 25 years. David holds titles at the State level in Salsa, Hustle and East Coast Swing - primarily in the showcase divisions.  David is closely associated with a Hustle style that interests many young twenty-somethings and is known to frequently show up at regional dance competitions with his younger students in tow. He has recently worked and or competed at World Hustle, VSO, Swing Fling, Mad Jam and others. His twenty-something Hustle dance team also competes in Salsa and East Coast Swing at these regional events. David also taught at last year's Hustle Cruise. His classes included spinning techniques and faster Hustle dance moves which where among the best attended workshops of the event. The faster Hustle style David and the team promote is basically called "Sling Hustle". Arguably, in 1980 the faster pace along with the lower cost to learn and the connection to the music that was currently in the clubs made it easily the most popular style of the period. Sling Hustle dancers everywhere learned and danced in all the major city's night clubs to the popular music of that time. David is also a nationally competative triathlete,  who dances  and competes in the winter, and races in the summer!  Email him at swingandhustle@gmail.com
